Charles Delporte surrealist mixed mefia (oil + spray paint) l on board titled 'La Nouvelle Planete' created c. 1970.
The style of this work in his "geophysical" and "nuclear" ouvre, with solar/cosmos symbolism. Great composition and use of colour, with clever effect resulting from use of spray paint at the edges of the compisition giving a misting/shadowed feel to the work.
Delporte was self taught..a painter, draftsman, sculptor, poet and composer..
He incorporated figuration and abstraction into his colorful, wavy, winding and flowing surreal compositions, influenced by likes of Picasso, Max Ernst and Van Gogh. Could also suggest a not too small nod to Salvador Dali. His works reflect symbolism and poetry. He found his inspiration in human beings and in the cosmos.
According to 'DELPORTE Ouvres de Musées' - Paul Caso 1981 edition, 361 of his works could be found in museums, foundations, churches and universities around the globe.

'DELPORTE' - Waldemar George 1970
Few artists had (have?) a greater representation in public institutions and private collections than this.
The work is framed in a quality Schleiper & Fils frame and mount which perfectly compliments the piece.

Condition good overall, some imperfections. Please check listing images as they form a large part of the description. If would like any more, please ask.
In addition to the artwork, however not covered in this listing is a large collection of ephemera such as exhibition catalogues, gala invites, pamphlets, period photographs (marketing/illustaration?), transparencies/projector slides, vinyl records - lps + singles, casette + books. Many of these are signed, with/without sketches/doodles, with/without dedications. Essentially belong in a museum, property curated and displayed..
I would like to hold on to some of these however open to discussion. Images attached.
